EASD Resiliency Coalition, in partnership with Elkhorn Area School District, is a group of community volunteers who are committed to building a stronger partnership together by increasing awareness and developing a skill set in the area of social emotional wellness.
Resilience is the ability to overcome obstacles and is in each one of us. When we use that strength, along with our social emotional wellbeing, we unite as a community. One way that the EASD Resiliency Coalition achieves this is by partnering with businesses, youth and the community to share each other’s resources. These resources may include a skill set on mediation, items to help calm a person, or educating how certain activities can be helpful which then encourages actions to become more mentally, socially, and emotionally healthy.

Open Arms Free Clinic serves residents of all ages living in Walworth County. Our goal is to keep our community healthy without economic hardship and deliver health care with compassion, dignity, and respect. All services are free for qualifying patients, and we provide primary medical care, general dentistry, and behavioral health counseling. All labs, medications, and referrals are also free. We make referrals for imaging, specialists, surgery, and more. We are not an urgent care for sore throats or broken bones, however during the pandemic, we provided over 1000 COVID tests, and close to 3000 COVID vaccines free to the community. To qualify for services, a person must live or work in Walworth County, have no health insurance (or Medicaid for just dental services), and household income below 200% of the federal poverty level. The enrollment process may be started online by completing the registration form or by calling the clinic directly. Open Monday - Thursday, generally 9-5pm.

Seeds of Hope provides an inclusive and safe environment for adults with developmental disabilities, including almost one hundred individuals on a monthly basis. Day programming activities include projects focusing on horticulture and culinary skills, participation in community outings, educational opportunities and physical activity. Seeds of Hope can also be found at community events helping local farmers, schools and small businesses.

Information on other community resources is also available. Applicants are screened on the third Tuesday of every month at the First Congregational UCC Church, 715 Wisconsin St, Lake Geneva, WI. A photo ID and proof of residency are required. Financial assistance can be provided only once in a 12 month period.

Special Methods In Learning Equine Skills

SMILES provides equine assisted activities and therapies such as therapeutic horseback riding as well as unmounted activities for children and adults with disabilities. Services are available to anyone four years and older regardless of the type of disability. SMILES is always in need of volunteers to help lead horses and sidewalk in classes. The minimum age to volunteer is 15. All training is provided, and no horse experience is required.

Twin Oaks is more than a shelter, though that is indeed one of its many functions. Residents receive emergency housing for up to 60 days, in one of the shelter’s 12 units. In addition to shelter, they receive professional and individualized case management, giving them the opportunity to alleviate an immediate crisis and focus their energy on finding or maintaining employment and stable housing.
